_Urging them to partner in economic growth. 

The Enugu State government has charged the 17 council Chairmen to redouble their efforts in surge the developmental vision of the governor to the people in the grassroots.

The Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia gave the charge in an event tagged "Local Government Performance Appraisal and Strategic Planning Framework" held at the Old Government Lodge, Enugu.

The exercise was aimed at assessing the performance of the council bosses in 2024 as well as their initiatives for 2025.

While calling on the council bosses to wake up to their responsibilities, the SSG Prof Onyia, encouraged them to report their areas of challenge, noting that the culture of the present administration in the state is evidence-based decision making process that should be exemplified in some of things they major themselves in 2024 and their project initiatives for 2025.

The SSG, Prof Onyia said the exercise was also of economic collaboration in order to grow the state economy exponentially, and urged them to initiate developmental ideas different from others in line with governor Mbah's disruptive agenda.

In a demonstration of their readiness to place their local governments as the topmost in the map of the state, the Chairmen took time one after the other to explain their areas of successes, challenges, and ongoing projects in line with the state government's target to make Enugu a hub for investment, business and living.

Some of the council bosses, Barr. Obiora Obegu of Isi-Uzo, Dr Ibenaku Onoh of Enugu North and their Awgu Counterpart, Hon. Uchenna Okolo, commended the governor for smoothing the grounds of development for them in their various areas of jurisdiction. 

They described the exercise as unprecedented and assured that no part of the state would be left behind in the developmental trajectory of the governor, admitting that the engagement has availed them the opportunity to expand their tentacles in actualizing the basic needs of their people according to the governor's avowed commitment.

They maintained that the partnership with the state government in the key areas of infrastructural development would no doubt transform the rural communities into urban areas.
